Either or.

I really like ficus because they're easy to take care of. If you want something your chameleon will probably eat as well as climb on, get a hibiscus. A lot of them love to eat hibiscus flowers.

I prefer hibiscus, I got a really nice older one from a nursery down the road. Apparently hard to keep alive. Much needed plant light, whereas my pothos do just fine without a plant light.

Depending on your location, if u can get to a greenhouse, they will have best selection and i like to support local. Sometime tricky to find proper size at depot or similar.

Hello there!
live plants are great in the cage. I personally like the ficus tree. you can find small ones that will fit in your cage for around $15-19 at Homedepot. Save your receipt just in case. They will replace your tree if it dies within a year.
I usually take the tree out once it doesn't fit in the cage, and plant it in a larger pot. When it is sunny out (which is quite often in San Diego), I take my chameleons to hang out on the larger trees on my Balcony or my back yard.
I watch the sky for Red tail hawks and Falcons because they like to hunt near the area I live in. At the sign of any large bird, I take them back into their cages.

Ficuses can be found at pretty much any hardware store with an outside section. Even Target might have some in their outside section. Armstrong gardens has them, too.
