Little Dripper Question

Hey guys

First timer with a Jackson Chameleon here. I have recently bought his entire enclosure as well as his supplies. As far as the little dripper goes would I need to have this on the whole day or is there a certain period where I can have it on? I tried moving the knobs but the drip amount increases continuously. Is this normal or is there a method where I can use for it to drip once every 2 minutes. Thanks

i usually refill mine about 3 times a day,
i try to get it to drip about 3 times a second,
no way i can think of to get it to do what you are thinking.

why don't we all try to come up with one that would do that?

build it and they will buy it!

Welcome to the forum!
You might be able to tie a loose knot in the end of the tubing or you might be able to add an aquarium tubing air valve to the tube to slow the rate down.
A slow drip of once every 2 minutes might not be fast enough to grab your cham's attention.

I forgot to say that Jackson's require more water and humidity than many other types of chams.

Thanks guys. I have managed to get it to drip once every 2 seconds. So I`m assuming that this is something that should always be on even at night correct?

I have the worst problems with the drippers. They will drip fine for about 30 minutes then slow down then nothing even when there is water in the container. I mean there is not a lot of technology to those things but mine is determined to piss me off

::fingers crossed:: that it doesn`t happen to me. It seems that he got adjusted to his dripped as he is now drinking from it. As far as increasing humidity is concerned I am using the dripper as well as a fogger. Is hand misting still required? if so how much? Thanks for the help once again.

A humidity gauge is really a must have item. Otherwise you're just guessing.
Jackson's like around 80% humidity because they are native to mountains, where it is a bit cooler and more humid than where Panthers and Veileds come from.

Live plants also help keep higher humidity and putting plastic over 2 or 3 of the screened sides is sometimes needed.
You don't want the cage to stay wet. That's one of the reasons why no substrate should be on the bottom of the cage.
Constant wetness leads to mold and bacterial growth, often leading to serious respiratory infections.

I used to own a veiled but I agree that Jackson are quite remarkable. I am right now debating weather to see if I should leave the dripper on all night or not. Would it be ok to leave the dripper continously? I`m concerned about drainage. I own a Exo Terra Glass Terrarium which will be his temporary home for now till I get a all screen cage.
