well ive had my ficus benjamina (weeping fig) plant for 4 weeks and its dropping lots of leaves but lots of new leaves are growing??
is this normal?
i mist the leaves 5 times a day and water the soil once a week.

the umbrella plant i have is fine.this is the first time ive ever kept house plants.

Ficus are particularly sensitive to being moved. Every time I moved mine, even just to the other side of the room, over the next few weeks it would drop pretty much all its leaves and start over. As long as new leaves are coming in it's doing okay.

Ficus can be difficult when the general humidity is rather low - or when it has wet feet. As you mist 5 times a day I would skip the watering once a week for a while. If you must each time about 1-2 minutes, the amount of water should be sufficient of the tree. In nature it is kind of an invasive pioneer plant that can grow on concrete and bare rocks even.

For sure. Ficus do a striptease at the slightest light change. I think it has something to do with optimal chlorophyll uptake (as in changing new leaf structure to suit lighting conditions), but don't quote me on it.
