My chameleons problems just wont end!! I free ranged my crickets because he wont cup feed and this morning i woke up to a scab formed on his top lip. What should i do? The wound looks clean and uninfected and i cant apply anything topical too because of the nature of the wound.

Not sure how he did that but wounds in that location are usually from face rubs on the cage.

Virtually all my wild caught imports come in with rubs to their snout but much, much worse, often going right down to the bone.

Just leave it alone and let it heal. He might forever have a black mark there but that will be just a surface blemish and really, nothing to worry about.

I dont care if it leaves a mark. As long as my lil guy gets better.

Unless you can find a glass terrarium that's at least 4 ft high and can be extra diligent with monitoring temperature and humidity I would suggest sticking with screen for veileds. The nose rubbing does stop once they feel they have enough space and branches. If your current terrarium is small that is most likely the reason for the nose rubbing.

Its not the nose rubbing that im worried about. I live in a super cold climate and its very dry. The highest recorded temp was about 90f. That was back in the early 2000s. I basically live in a dry tundra. Can i use a ventilated wooden enclosure

If temperatures are a problem for you I highly recommend getting a good space heater that can regulate the rooms temperature. Wood will rot with how much water chameleons need.
The temps dont really bother me because ambient temp within my house is at 73f at the minimum. Its the dryness. I mist about 4 times a day and everything dries within a couple of hours. I mist about 300ml of water each time too. (10.5oz). I do a good 2 mins minimum.

What kind of enclosure should i choose. I dont think mesh is working out.

I like the solid sided DragonStrand cages. My ideal cages have three solid sides and a screen front.

DragonStrand has one that I think is the best shape--longer than it is tall. I think most if not all chameleons really like more horizontal space than we give them. The DragonStrand cage to look at is the Atrium. It takes a while to get his cages after you order them so be patient.

I've kept chameleons in Exo-Terras. You need one that is about 36" x 36" x 18" and that's a really heavy cage. They have their own problems and don't have as good ventilation as I would like. They might have better ventilation with a veiled that will have a basking bulb that will create a chimney effect in the cage. They need really careful attention to temps or you can easily cook your chameleon.

Ill see if dragonstrand ships to the uk. I absolutely love their enclosures. I see them all over the internet
