FINALLY had a chance to take linus outside and he seemed to enjoy it as any cham would :) i just feel bad because of my school and work schedule, i go to school 4 days a week and work full time on top of that, so i leave before it gets warm enough out, and i usually come home after dark...

anyways, does anyone else think its unique how he has a "growth ring" on his horns..you can clearly tell how long they were when i got him, and the ring may be caused by a large change of events and a different supplementing schedule...anyone find out anything if calcium has anything to do with how long their horns grow, or if they grow straight, what color they are, or if it is purely genetics?

He's sweet :) I don't know much about jackson's but I can see the "ring" thing ;)

thanks! its actually common in horses hooves...normally sometimes in spring when the nutrient rich grass comes up, some horses may get a growth ring on their feet because of the change of nutrients theyre taking in...i wonder if it is the same with jackson's...

Great pictures of a very handsome Jackson! I am interested in the answers to the questions regarding the relationship between calcium and horn growth/straightness.

How old is your little guy? My Jackson Reggie is 4 months :)

linus is about a year and almost a half...not sure of his age when i first got him, but if i were to guess, he was about 8 months, which was in january.

im very curious to find out the relationship between calcium's effects on the horns...wish i was a scientist haha!

Did he retain a shed when he was little? He's beautiful either way!

im not sure. he was about 8 months when i got him, so most of his shedding days were past, since, he has only completely shed for me twice, and its always been in bits and pieces and has never had any issues with it. and thank you :)

My little guy is going through a slow shed right now (about 75% done after a week). Glad to hear this is not uncommon.

yea, my guy goes through a cycle, starting with his tail..then he wont shed for a few days, then his feet, then another break, then his back, then a break, and finally his sides and face...takes about 3 weeks for him to completely shed...the older they get, the less they need to shed, so even then only certain parts of their body may have grown and they wont go through a whole shed :p

EDIT: Sorry repeat. (shouldn't multitask during work!)

Glad to see that your were able to get Linus some outside time. He's looking really handsome and very happy to be out.:)

Its the lovely Linus! He has grown into such a handsome boy! I would alsolike to know more about the horns. Maybe they have grown more or perhaps sronger since you got him. Maybe his care wasn't quite up to par before you got him. Not really sure how that would impact on the horns though, just a thought.
