hey, Im just wondering how far away from the veiled chameleon the UV light should be to prevent harm coming to the chameleion. right now I have the UV light and heat lamp inside the cage, the heat lamp is about five inches from his vines and his uv lamp is just under a foot, is this good clearance or should they be outside the cage with wire mesh breaking up the light a bit?

Hey iverburg, Just a friendly note. You should try and keep your new posts to a min. A lot of lighting topics are being discussed on the forum this weekend... so do a little searching and asking in those threads. Peple subscribe to them and when you reply it bumps the thread to the top and more people see it. starting new threads doesn't really help you get replies.

Better for the lamps to be outside of the cage. Depending on the brand and type, the UVB should be approx 6 inches from a branch that he likes. The heat bulb can be any distance away, so long as the basking spot temp is accurate. You dont want the cham to accidentally touch the heat bulb with his head, back, tail or toes.
