Lights a Safe distance from ceiling?

Hey everyone. We are moving to a different townhouse and will not have vaulted ceilings there. I measured it and there will be about 5-6 inches between the top of the basking dome fixture (75watt bulb) and 8 inches from the top of the quad system to the ceiling. I wanted to make sure that there was no danger of fire having only 5-6 inches above the basking fixture. I am not too good with this stuff so would appreciate all feedback. Thank you!

See so right now I have vaulted ceilings. But when I move I will only have a 5 inch space between the top of the basking light and the ceiling. So I just was wanting to make sure that there is no fire danger having it that close to the ceiling. This is the positioning of everything on top. @Brodybreaux25 So I would be good then?

All the heat is going into the cage. So you use the baking bulbs or a normal Halogen? I'd say the basking bulb that close would be safe since it has a reflector built into it as well. Try leading your hand above it for 3min or so is it too warm for comfort?

Yeah I am thinking it will be safe. It is a normal 75 watt light bulb. Not much heat coming from the back of it. Thank you for your help!

Well, first we need to known if you're buying or if it's a rental. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just kidding. You have nothing to worry about. The only thing I would point out is that more heat will likely be reflected back into the enclosure, so you may need to adjust the wattage.

LOL oh your funny! I wish I was buying! Good point though about adjusting the wattage! :)

Omg I’m dying yeah there actually is lol

There is always an instigator out there. LOL

If I bring home another animal, I will be sleeping in the garage.... not even the couch. Hell, I don't even qualify for the couch now!

Then again, it is a very large garage......

That is true... Cats are aloof, moody and really just own the house while you pay rent. Chameleons on the other hand... oh wait, they are exactly the same except they also require periodic ritual sacrifice to appease and hiss a little louder.

I'm sure you're fine with that. Some of my spot light fittings in the house are, by design, only a couple of inches from the ceiling.

Unless your ceiling is made of straw or you dome light spits flames, you'll be OK.

Thank you! I was thinking it would be fine since it is not directly on it but I wanted to make sure. :) I just love that I can count on everyone here for feedback when I am stuck!
