hey i have just rcently made a large full screen chameleon cage and i put my uvb and the heat lamp on it and it didnt have enoug light so i put to fish tank hoods on it with 2 florescent lights for aquariams and i was wondering if theses give off uvb and if that would be to much uvb because i already have , or if they were just harmfull?!!:confuse

No you cannot use aquarium lights. They do NOT give off uvb. Most of us use the reptisun or reptiglo 5.0 linear tube bulbs. If you can find one to fit the hood that would work, you just can't use those bulbs. You just want to use the one uvb bulb. That is all you need.

I use grow light in conjunction with a UVB reptisun, they really brighten up the cage and are good for the plants and do not harm the chameleon.I buy the lights and the double hood at lowes. The lights I get are the 6500k in the aquarium lights section.

i have a repti sun 5.0 but the setup was to dark so i also added some aquariam lights i was just wonderin if they were harmfull in any way?

I don't know that answer to that question, but as Suzi suggested you might just want to use the grow lights to be on the safe side. I use an additional 20 watt housebulb in my cage to brighten up the one side. It doesnt create too much heat but gives off the light. It is in a dome though.
