Light to keep plants alive?

Hi, I was wondering if I need a special light to keep plants alive in Oscar's cage. My first plant died in about a week. Currently I have a basking light and an UVB light.

Unless its a potho or a dracaena you are going to need alot of light. If its a 24x24 top you are going to need at least 50 watts of florescent.

Im managing to keep a hard to keep Hibiscus going with a 100 watts of fluorescent and 1 50 watt halogen, in a 30x48 top.

Something like a linear fluorescent bulb in the daylight spectrum, 5000K or 6500K, will keep most plants alive better. These are available inexpensively at any Home Depot/Lowe's type store.
