Life after a chameleon prolapse

Good morning,

First time poster, but quite an emergency.

My chameleon suffered a prolapse last week in the evening. We bathed it in sugar water and nothing happened to help so first thing the next morning took him straight to the vets who pushed the prolapse back in,gave him injections over 2 days and 4 days worth of antibiotics which we have been giving him.

After the prolapse, he was happier than ever and started to love contact with us which previously he hated.

Now today he has taken a turn for the worse. He is freezing cold, cannot even hold onto his branches. We are taking him to the vets this afternoon but not sure he will make it that long as the only vets close to us that will deal in reptiles is an hour away. Is there anything we can do to help? :(:(:(

Sometimes they will develop a fungal infection from a prolapse and need an antifungal med. to get rid of it. That's just one possibility though.

In the meantime just keep him warm enough but not so hot that he's baking. Not a vet...so that's all I can suggest.
