Leaf-footed bug?

Every year, exactly one entity that appears to be some sort of leaf-footed bug decides to spend the winter in my house. In past years, it's been content to hang out upstairs, but this year it has taken a liking to the Chameleon Condo (nice basking light and water). I relocate it when I find it (including tossing it outside in the snow) but it or an identical one always comes back. Anyone know anything about leaf-footed bugs? - I kind of get the feeling that it's not something I should let the cham be snacking on, if only because of its similarity to assassin bugs, which I've heard deliver a painful bite.

I'll try and get a picture next time we cross paths.

Are you possibly talking about a Western conifer seed beetle?

I don't think that they are safe for a cham to eat so keep them away from your cham room. The one you have is trying to overwinter in your house (ladybugs and stinkbugs do this, too) and you can simply take him to a closet or attic and toss him in and he should settle down.

It is not unlike the conifer seed beetle. I tossed him in the basement the last time I saw him, so maybe he'll settle down (or maybe the Giant House Centipedes will get him).

Man ya'll have some crazy bugs up there... I think I'll stay down here where roaches are really the only worry.

It's seeming like most of the insect species that try to overwinter indoors are not-so-safe or worth risking with chams. Western conifer seed bugs, ladybugs, and stinkbugs, as Kenya mentioned, are all known to find their way indoors when it gets chilly outside.

So far this season I've seen two Western conifer seed bugs, two stinkbugs (from different species), a box elder bug, and a ladybug (nearly) inside. Three out of the six have been hanging around the chams' lights, and at least two of the chameleons have gotten interested enough to want to shoot at the bugs.
