Laying eggs

My chameleon is starting to go the bottom of her cage and will go back up to the top of her cage. I have a pot in there for her, with plantation soil (substrate) for reptiles because that's what I was recommended to use. Is this an okay soil for her? How big does the pot/bucket have to be?

From the caresheet "The laying bin should be at least 16x16x16" with depth of substrate of at least 12" being crucial."
You also need to pay attention for it not to be too dry. Your cham needs to be able to dig a proper tunnel in it, without it collapsing.

Thank you for suggestions. Tomorrow I will go and get organic soil and playsand. She will not leave her cage for me so I need it to fit inside her cage. So I may need to get a 12" by 12" bin.

I received your PM and then saw your thread so figured I'd just answer here. I highly recommend keeping a laying bin in the enclosure at all times after they reach 5 months old. A 12x12x8 is most often recommended. You might find these links helpful.
