Laying bin

So are you supposed to change the dirt/sand in the laying bin after each use (laying), or can it be used again?

I re-use it for the same chameleon...but if I use the same bin for another chameleon, I change it. If they defecate frequently in it I also change it.

Good to know, thank you. I get so paranoid when it comes to eggs. It could get really expensive if I had to change it every time!:D

What is in the dirt/sand that you bought??
I bought my jumbo bag of play sand for like 8$ and my dirt for like 5$ and can get a ton of use even if I change it every time.

The dirt I got was the expensive kind, it was the kind you buy in a brick at the pet store add water and it expands. I was so worried the dirt I got would have something besides just dirt.

Laying

Hi im new and we have two young chameleons that are just reaching maturity, and unfortunately we didn't want them to breed and we know there was nothing could have to stop the accept separate them, and now the female bonnie looks asif she now needs to lay, she has small bumps on the abdomon areas on her sides, we need to know whether we need to seperate the two chameleons in order for her to lay the eggs or doesn't it matter,
please anyone has any usefull information could you send me a message because we are starting to worry at the fact we know if she carries the eggs for two long she will die :( and that is the main thing we do not wish to happen
thankyou for any replys that we get back back we will be very greatful

Laying

Well we were told to use a reasonable sized box with damp moss in it were not entirely sure exactly how to go about this because we dont have another tank and we cant possible aford to buy another one or let alone have enough room we have a small one but only one heat lamp which is in the large tank

As far as a laying bin goes.
You can use a garbage can (the big ones you take out to the street) put dirt in that and give her time.

The problem is you unfortunately DO need another cage, and the sooner the better. The stress caused by being together could be enough to end one of their lives sooner then you want.
