Laying bin problem.

I put a laying bin in my veiled chameleons cage for a few weeks now and she hasn't laid any eggs.. I feel like the bin is a hazard being in the cage. Ive seen her ending up getting the cricket + peat moss in her mouth.. and I can't put my hand in there and grab it.. about 2 days ago she had a thick piece in her mouth, it was half the size of her head.. I watched as she tried to chew on it and I was hoping she would spit it out but she ended up eating it.. I have no idea how hard it was.. there are actual sticks and stuff in the peat moss.. :( So I took it out just now.. but now I'm worried about her not having a place to lay any eggs.. what should I do?

I'm not sure if she rejected the peat moss or maybe she didn't have enough privacy .. or if she even has any eggs to lay.

I was going through some of the same problems their myself a had a laying bin in my viv their for three weeks maybe longer thinking she wasnt going to lay but i came.in the other day and she was in it and layed them thankfully i used a normal sized bucket with play sand out of argos and i poured water in it so its alway damp and she can dig a hole and in wont collapse on her as for her eating what u had in the bucket dont know if it.would digest

I've always used a 55 gallon garbage can with a foot or so of laying medium. Put a few plants in and couple of branch's with lighting over the top. When I saw the female pacing or a couple of days after she stopped eating in she went.

The hardest part was figuring out where she layed but once you find a spot where the soil is packed harder then the rest of the area bingo.

So when they pace, does that mean they're ready to lay eggs? I do notice mine goes up and down the cage for no real reason. After I removed the bin.. I noticed she went down to the very bottom floor of the cage twice.

How long did you have her in the trashcan till she laid her eggs?

I'm thinking of using a regular bucket and just place her in there in a backroom, though I would only be able to provide one light, not the UVB since I only have one thing to hang the bulb with :\\

Pacing for me was always looking for at the bottom of the cage. I've had females stay in the bin for a few days. I set up the bin just like a cage so I have no issue keeping her in it for a short period of time.
