Ladybirds? or other "non-nasty" type feeders

So...Amazon has its list of suggested items, and has suggested a ladybird breeding kit - which set me thinking...

What is the nutritional value of a ladybird? Anyone know? My web searches haven't yielded much...

Could a cham eat ladybirds or ladybird larvae? I find these quite pleasant little creatures that I wouldn't mind dealing with (unlike jumpy things!) or are there any other "nice" insects that could potentially be used?

(Obviously if I ever fed anything like this, they would be purposely raised, not free range and full of potential nasties!)

Ladybird as in ladybug? (the red beetle things with black dots) They can't eat lady bugs as they are toxic.

Try Hornworms! I find them quite pleasant as its just like a big green caterpillar. Or you could try moths or butterflys. I am with you, I hate the scurrying, bouncing feeders but the chams love em so I provide them!

Ladybird beetles (aka Lady bug) are toxic and should not be used. But there are many many others to choose from. Check out this list for some ideas:

If you want "nice" as in beneficial also to your garden, try mantids or terrestrial isopods (aka rollie pollie, wood sow).

If you want "nice" as in good looking, try painted lady or silkworms/moths. although its in the eye of the beholder, I think hissers are "nice" too :)

If you want "nice" as in "not jumpy" try superworms, silkworms, butterworms, terrestrial isopods.
