Kiwi's egg laying update

I think I'd ask him to xray first before giving the 2nd shot. She prob passed em all the first time. I just like to be conservative when it comes to administering any drugs to these guys/gals.

Olympia: I didnt know it was the same thing they give to women until i started talking to my gf one day. She's a labor & del nurse and she said thats the same stuff they use at the hopsital. She nearly fell over when i told her they give it to chams. lol

I didn't either until I watched a documentary on birth a few months ago. And they were talking about all the medications they give women and that one sounded familiar to me in relationship to chameleons, and I was a little stunned too when I realized it was the same shot. I can't say for sure if they feel the same contraction pain we would, but if they do then I sympathize!

Veiled, I would give her a nice warm shower until she stops drinking and then, when my female laid, I gave her as many crickets as she wanted, which was about 13. And then she went on to bask and recover. After such an ordeal I would let her eat her full.

no more egg laying has taken place. its been about an hour or so since the second oxytocin shot. i put her in her cage for the rest of the day and night and have my mistking going right now, shes drinking like crazy. i hope i didnt ruin anything though :( should this be fine?

also, my vet e-mailed me the xray pics, is anybody interested in me posting them?

Yes please post both before she laid at the vets and after she laid. It will help educate some of us.

Has she laid any more?

she hasnt laid anymore since ive been with her. i have a total of 40 eggs atm and before she got her 2nd oxytocin shot she was x-rayed and there are still about 6ish in there.

shes out in her cage again and is still drinking water off the leaves.

hopefully she'll go down and dig or lay the rest tonight i realy realy hope so.

Very interesting photos!

I would leave her alone. Leave her in her laying bin overnight and she should be able to take care of it. Check in on her in a few hours but I would stop fussing. She's been through a lot today and will probably appreciate some peace and quiet for her to finish laying.

Update: I Honestly Dont Like This Egg Laying Business

so i left for tonight and still no eggs, should i honestly just leave her be in her cage tomorrow or take her back to the vet? guhh im realy stressin here :( like should i offer her food with eggs still in her?

here are some pics of her at the vets

What is she doing? Is she in her laying bin? In the cage? I would put her in her laying bin without a way out and leave her alone. Mine would not lay until I left her in her bin without a way out and she got right to work laying, so it might work for yours.

Just relax. Being stressed out doesn't help her. If she will eat and drink, then by all means, offer food and water.

update.

the update for today is nothing. ive been at work all day and just got home. no digging or no loose eggs. im getting worried again. should i honestly put her in a trash can with dirt and coco husk? shes been in her branches all day. she is drinking and ate about 5 crickets today. they were generally dusted with plain calcium.

so any advice for today guys? should i bring her in for another oxytocin at this point? also, in the 2nd x ray (2nd meaning the one with less eggs) in the middle of her by one egg, their seems to be a block of somesort. my vet submitted the x rays to a vets board, and their guess would be uriac acids or ingestive materials. can anyone look at the xray and honestly say if it looks problematic or not?

I have studied the X-rays and I know nothing. I tried to locate the blockage you mentioned but don't know where I am looking. Let's hope someone with more knowledge about X-rays come on the forum,

I would email a cham expert vet, like Dr. Alfonso (personal e-mail: [email protected]) and send him the photos. I see the mass you think is a blockage but I don't know enough to tell you what it is or how serious it is. Also tell him her history over the past few days so he can tell you what to do with the egg laying thing.

To email photos? No, not at all. The worst he can say is that he doesn't want to/can't help you, but he won't charge you for an opinion.

Update.

well, i e-mailed dr.alfonso last night and no reply back yet. she hasnt laid anymore eggs since wednesday, although the eggs appear to have moved down closer to her vent. which is good right? what should i do? should i bring her to the vet in the morning? or wait until monday too see if she does anything in the next couple days?

also, i need to clean my room  how do i do this without disturbing her? (NOTE: no i cannot move the cage) should i be more worried about visual or noise vibrations, i litteraly tip toe like an idiot in my room. anyways, she does curtains on the front and all of one side that blocks the chams from the geckos. the cage is bare on the left side but my multi's cage has a block on his cage. there still leaves room to see me just a bit from her side of the cage. am i just over worrying or should i cover that up as well?
