I reared about a dozen lubber grasshoppers (Romalea microptera) a few months ago, and released them back to the wild when they became adults. I just found this guy (yes, a male) hopping around in the sawgrass.

EDIT: I just realized I caught a fly in mid-flight in the third pic.

No, a friend of mine breeds them and gave me some. They are highly toxic.



(this is the perfect example of warning colors for those who want to use w/c bugs.)
