Keeping young chameleons in the same enclosure? How long can you do this for?

I currently have a 2 month old male red bar ambilobe in a 65 gallon reptarium. There are a bunch of plants in there, proper lighting, vines, etc.

There is a reptile expo tomorrow about 15 minutes from where I live and I am interested in picking up a female ambilobe to breed in the future.

I plan on buying two reptology hd enclosures 2x2x4 for each of the chameleons but it would be nice to have some time to save up.

Since I only have one habitat set up as of now, can I keep the two together. If so for how much longer?

How old is the female?

Though I wouldn't reccomend it or do it my self you could probley get away with it for a week or two if the female is of ther same age as the male.

If it were me I would just buy a cheap small cage to house the female separate until you get the bigger cages.

You can keep them together until they are about 4 and a half months old.

Chameleons grow at different rates, and some the same age can be half the size. You want to keep them together ONLY if they are within the same range of size.

The male will start trying to breed with the female as early as 5 months old.

Depending how the female has been kept before by the breeder, she may not take well to going from a single-chameleon caging setup to a multi-chameleon caging setup.

You have to be careful doing this even at a young age.
