Keeping Crickets In Fridge

I keep my crickets in a small old fridge and have the temp set for 70 degrees. Its the warmest I can set it. Is this a bad idea? Thank you for your responses.:)

sounds appetizing lol , I must ask why do you keep your crickets in a 70f fridge. Any advantages or that is just where food goes? Also where do you live geographically.

Someone told me to put the crickets in the fridge for 10 mins before i want to hand feed just to slow them down a bit.. No idea about keeping them in there all the time though :-s

I think they will survive that temp but prob wont do much at that temp including eat witch will make gut loading difficult.

id be more concerned about ventilation then being 70f. I keep my crickets outside in fall and its never above that or even really in the 70s anymore mine do pretty good too. I actually have a huge bag of them in my hand right now of about 100. Time to go feed the geckos.

Well since the summer is over my crickets temps are 65-70 depending on the day. They seem to be lasting at least 2x longer than at 80. During the summer the 3/4" only last a few weeks before the die off. Im almost at the end of month 2 and they are still going strong. As others would say gut load is going to be slow, and breeding impossible. I wouldnt recommend it for a fresh from the farm batch.

Brown crickets eat and breed readily in 70f I don't know why you people think that is so cold. It's in a fridge but in no way is that nearly cold to keep crickets temp wise.

I missed that the fridge was kept at 70. Still, the lack of ventilation seems like it could cause problems. But if it doesn't then whatever works.

Easiest way to keep them cool, they seem to get dehydrated and die fast anything above 78. I was losing a dozen a day until I started keeping them in the fridge. U.S. west coast CA.

I have heard that they grow slower when in a cold enviroment.
