Keeping a healthy female

I read somewhere that if a female veiled is kept at a lower temperature(basking about 85), and given a more restricted diet, that it will likely not lay eggs and will live longer. Any thoughts on this? We do not plan on breeding her and would like to help her live the longest, healthiest life possible.

Most of us with females do this.

I keep my girl at a basking temp of 84, and she gets fed 3-6 bugs every other day.

it reduces clutch size or even laying at all.

Your blog is exactly where I got my info from;) I will continue to do this then. She gets a small mealworms as a treat every day, about 4-5 crickets/4-5 baby stick bugs every other. Is there any harm in putting her in an outside cage in hot days in summer? I probably won't do it every day.

I take my girl outside but keep her in the shade so I can still control the temps. I feed my adult chameleons 3 times a week on Sunday, Tues. and Thursdays.
