Juvenile veiled color question

I have a 5-6 month old veiled that seems to stay a dull brownish gray, it does get greens and blu and a little yellow when it's really fired up but it's not its regular colors, when it asleep it does turn bright tones of greens, he's been like this for about a month, eating, active etc. I do have to mention that he did have some worms and is taking meds for them. My question is, are his regular colors ok being dull until he's excited? Is this a browning stage or what not? Do chams usually stay brown until excited or about to mate?

The vet approved my husbandry routine and enclosure, my Cham was very colorful when she seen him so she didn't think anything of it.

What are your temperatures in the cage? Chameleons will often present darker pigments when they are cold as they will absorb more heat. He's beautiful though!

Thanks ! 86 at his basking spot today, ambient temp on lower portion between 72-80 depending on weather, even when it was hotter these last couple days my basking spot was at 90 and the cool spots was about 84, he was still dark

He hated my iPhone, when I try and take a pic he gets upset and stat to get green

I just want to make sure he's not missing something or stressed

Is his front arm swollen or is that just the picture? Mine normally all go through a brown stage. IMHO the 90/84 is to warm. They need a cool spot near the bottom to cool off. Do you ever take him out of the cage? Normally they are happier and show better colors when not caged.

I just saw your second picture and he looks good. The arm looks normal too.

If is gets hot in your house you should turn off his lights especially the basking light because it will just make him hotter.

Like Jann said, seems a little hot. Maybe try a lower wattage bulb, or put a spacer under the lamp to lift it off the cage. What I did was bend a wire coat hanger to prop up the lamp. Looks odd but it works great, and I'm sure you can find something better to use.

Thanks for all the replies guys, his temps are not regurlarly that high but will def take that into consideration. I'll try and perfect his temp gradients and see if looks a little better.

He is shedding looks like. My cham gets extra irritated and stays dark when he is shedding. It seems like as soon as he finished a shed a new one immediately starts and he doesn't change colors unless he is excited or sleeping so to me it all sounds pretty normal?

I rearranged my temp and humidity probes and I'm at 90 basking 73 lower gradient, 60% humidity before misting, after its 80% I'll just have to wait it out, thanks for all the replies

It's hard to measure because he's constantly expaning and contracting and blowing win self up, I guesstimate about 5-6 inches from head to hind legs plus his long tail
