She's starting to get black dots every time I look at her from outside the cage or if I open the door. It's the same when I put crickets in or when I'm misting her. Is this normal? She also runs away as soon as I step into the room. Help?

The black dots are her 'stress' pattern (all youngsters get it sometimes :)).
She is just being a chameleon. It is normal for her to be very nervous. If she has plenty of foliage to feel safe in and you move slowly and are very patient with her she will almost certainly get used to you :) My girl is 2 years old now and sometimes she still hides from me when I walk past.

Again, listen to David. The only other I would ask is are you misting her directly? I know Picasso hates it when he happens to be in the wrong place and my misters turn on (timer). Most chameleons are not fans of that IMO.
