i've been meaning to weigh him weekly after receiving him but just managed to get the right kind of scale, a food scale that weights in grams...
well, when i got Stanley from Jann on June 8th he weighted 24 grams at shipping...
today i've had him 20 days, he's 13 weeks old, 5 and 1/2" from snout to vent and he weighs 46 grams.........

is he too hefty? do i need to cut back on his groceries?? he's almost doubled his weight in 3 weeks........

i know over feeding can cause problems... he eats about 12-15 1/4"-1/2" crickets aday along with a few silkies as a treat, because he's sooo sweet, i can't help myself... ;)

pic from today...

I wouldn't worry about cutting back on food until he's older. He doesn't look fat to me. He's just a growing boy! :)

5 1/2" stv? Woah. Pan is only 7 inches snout to vent at 1 year old. Are you sure that's right? Pan was around 80-90 grams at that size. (a slower grown reptile generally has a longer lifespan and healthier more problem-free life.)

I love his yellow markings! He's gonna be every bit as handsome as his Daddy!:D

thanks Miss Lily, i do hope that you are right!!! his Daddy is a knockout!!!

i didn't think that he looked fat either, guess he's just having a growth spurt!! ;)

i'm pretty sure that's correct, but i'll remeasure him tomorrow after he gets up.. :)

He's getting in some nice colors!

thanks, he is getting kinda flashy!!!!

he's 4 and 1/2", i misread the ruler....

He looks great Lisa! I have been feeding my Perry the same amount you have been feeding Stanley. I don't have a scale, but he has definitely grown a noticeable amount! :)

where do you get a scale to weigh the chams? I have a 3 month old male Veiled Chameleon.. he is starting to show a little blotch of black near the tan strips on his body and he is developing his casque :) Hes gonna be pretty just like Janns and yours :) He looks amazing btw :p

You can buy a grams scale at Walmart in the kitchen section for about $20.00. They are for weighing food for like a diet but they also work great for chameleons.

thanks Tyler!! Stanley is an amazing eater!!! if it wiggles he's on it!!! i'd like to start trying some fruits and veggies with him but i haven't seen him show any interest in any of the plants in his enclosure so i'm thinking he's not ready yet.. maybe if the fruits and plants "wiggled" he might try them.. :)

i intended to weigh him weekly but didn't have the right kind of scale at first, the food scale that weighs in grams is the one you need. i think it will be beneficial ti kinda keep up with his weight gain or loss....

post some pics of Perry, i'd love to see him!!!!! lisa

thanks for the compliment!!!
and Jann gave you the answer i would have... "Walmart", i found it in the "gadget" section... you know, can openers, mixing spoons, etc...
i think it's agood idea to occasionally check their weight, it can let you know if they're getting enough to eat or if you're overfeeding them... the later is something i have to be careful of.. ;)
