Hi everyone, i'm looking for information on chameleons so i thought the best way to get a bunch of information on them would be to join a forum. I don't actually own one yet, i'm just looking into it. I currently have a 5 year old green iguana named Iggy and i have had a flying gecko, so owning a chameleon wouldn't be that much of a stretch.

thanks! It is a great site.. I really think, should i decide to get a chameleon that i would go with a veiled chameleon.

Welcome! :)
and ditto Janns comment on veilds, I have one, and not a day goes by without the 'wow' factor! Chams rock! :)

Welcome, you are brighter than I was. Way back when I bought my first chameleon I didn't do the appropriate research. It always make me happy to see people doing that ahead of the purchase.

I guess I like veileds, I currently have 28, but 25 are my first babies. Chameleons are incredable to watch get ready to set aside some quality time!!:D

Well, i too have had that experience. I was looking for a pet when i was in the tenth grade ad was told that an iguana would live for a couple years and that a ten gallon tank would be good lol. Hundreds of dollars later my 5 year old iguana is in a 7 foot enclosure in my living room. Needless to say i have never had another impulse buy again, even though i did end up with a really amazing pet. There is actually a lot of overlap between iguanas and chameleons. They are both aboreal and have similar husbandry requirements, although chameleons need more fresh air and iguanas of course would eat every plant in sight rather than perch on them.
The biggest problem i have though would be that i am a current college student, and i would have to transport my chameleon once in a while. I have read that it is ok as long as they have a month or so in between transporting. Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other?
