too many leaves russling and then a crash..

Poor Zoey she fell from her vine and hit the bottom.

Immediately went to see if she was okay.. She looked shocked but she was okay. We pulled her out of the cage and looked at her... (She had the nerve to hisssss LOL) She's fine... nothing broken..

She landed in a pile of Vines on top of sand.

How long should I keep an eye on her to make sure nothings wrong?

I gunna call it a night but I will check back in the morning. I just want to know if she'll be fine or if there is still something that may come of the fall..

She fell about 3 feet. .

Keep an eye on her for couple of days. It could indicate another underlying problem (why did she fall in the first place?). She should be fine if she's eating, drinking, and pooping regularly for several days.

I had a similar experience with a newly bought panther falling 4 ft to the cage floor (3mm expanded PVC). Apparently he was exploring the top screen of the cage. My wife called me when I was outside, from what she explained, he was a goner. Lying on the cage floor, back legs spread apart, not moving, threatens to bite every time my wife tries to check him. I came home 5 minutes later (fastest 5 mins of my life) and picked him up nicely and slowly. He seemed like he was shocked for a while but slowly came back to his senses. He was fine 10 minutes later.

He wants to say hi:

Lesson learned: Keep a *very* close eye on chameleons acclimating to their new home.

Chameleons wil occasionally fall, I suppose just like any other animal due to a mis-step or a misjudgement. Repeated falling almost always means an underlying problem, and in the chameleon world that problem is usually MBD. MBD is caused by improper LIGHTING AND SUPPLEMENTATION. And a reminder, UVB lighting does not last forever, it must be replaced every 6-9 months.

My friends Veiled fell from her 6ft cage and landed weirdly and it lacerated one of her organs and it got infected. She was given medicine to stop it but it made it worse. She died like a week later. =(

Her fine got loose and she fell with it.

She's currently sitting on the small branch reaching toward the top of the cage. She looks okay, but then again she is sleeping lol. Have to wait and see I guess.

He's cute :)

When I'm in the same room with them I'm looking at them every few minutes.

I was just shocked that she fell. But alas a further inspection showed that the vine she normally walks on fell down with her. So I don't think it was her fault. Just a mis-hap in the cage.

We are actually going and getting her a new cage today. All Mesh. Hopefully we won't have the same problems like we do with her glass cage.

She is sleeping now in the day time?

No I was mistaken lol. After I signed off I went to check on her and she looked at me and then went back to doing nothing lol.

It was just cuz I was looking from a distance. Like she looks asleep right now, but if you watch carefully you can see her eyes moving.

Clyde has fallen at least 4 times that I know of over the space of 7 months. His highest was from a little over 6ft from an artificial tree onto carpet. He was really agitated but fine. His smallest was about 2ft out of a rubber plant when he took a mistep, also onto carpet.

The other two times have been in his cage from less than 4ft.

Each time he's slightly shaken up but fine. Veileds are incredibly hardy. My guess is that he is more embarressed that he fell, not that he might have hurt himself. But like all creatures, if you land the wrong way, anything could be harmful.

Maybe the casque on a veileds head is like an air rudder to help him steer as he plummets to the ground! :)

LOL! :D:D

Reminds me of the movie with the guy who had the jet pack? The rocketeer?

I just had this image of a Veiled chameleon piloting the skies with a rocket pack on his back.

one time my veiled fell off of the couch because we were watching a scary movie and he got scared and jumped back and fell off. he was fine he just told me that he wanted to watch animal planet instead.
