Jumping spiders

Who else likes spiders too? IMO jumping spiders are the best, this is a phiddipus borealis found in the bathroom. She is very docile, I had her for ~3 months, cricket every couple days and occasional misting kept her happy!

Yeah- watched a few videos of these guys about 5 months ago. Then one of the venders had some in stock so figured, we are in lock down and can't go anywhere, why not get a micro pet? I had them separated for a few months and decided to put a male and female together. I thought I was watching the Discovery Channel. I was amazed at the dancing (waiting for one to EAT the other) and how much communication goes on between the 2. Well, the female made a nest (no big deal they make them all the time) but then noticed the egg case. WOW!!!! Then about 20 days later the babies were seen. Today is going on 20 plus days (have to look at calendar) and they seem ready to leave the nest. The next journey begins. I have deli cups ready to separate, I have flies ready to eat, I will just need to find them homes. Regal species

Today the mama spider finally came out of her nest. She has been in the nest protecting the eggs and now babies for almost 3.5 months. No food or water just on a extended siesta (nap).

She was quick to jump on this little guy.

She actually closed the opening she made to come out. MAMA said" You little ones stay inside".

Update! Sorry I have not added but have been busy trying to defend myself.
So a few weeks ago the mama came out and ate a cricket by night she was back in the next with shutting down the webbing (cool stuff).
For the last week she has left the nest ( I will probably move her soon).
But the babies are still inside and seem to be getting bigger but have not shed. My understanding is once they shed they will move out and I have plenty of deli cups and fruit fly cultures to welcome them.

Sure thing!
Here was papa- he passed away after breeding. I think that is their cycle.
Males live a bout a year or so and females a little longer (not 100% sure since I did not have them as babies).
So, I think this is the very first spider I ever thought was cute. I love his greens! He is was, dare I say, beautiful!!!

Update
Today as I watched the babies moving around in the nest something different happened.
They all moved at the same time, like a wave. It was weird but they did it a few times so knew it wasn't my eyes.
Here are some pics taken today.
They all have orangish legs (never saw that before semi- new zoom lens). They still have not shed.
