This is my yr old panther cham in the washing basket. Does he look healthy ? im currently treating him with reptaid as he had a few pinworm eggs but apart from that he drinks well is active and alert, just want to gain a bit more weight as currently he is 100g. im hoping the reptaid will increase his apetite too. Any thoughts much appreciated. This photo was taken about a week ago and he is now shedding so his skin looks a bit dull ready for his shed

Thanks

he does look great. how old is he? and why do you want him to gain weight. there was a recent thread about not growing your chams too fast. and having them get fat fast isnt ever a good thing. is he a WC chameleon? and i know that parasites can be somewhat easy to get, but do you have any idea how he got pin worms? are they husbandry conditions and feeder bins maintained?

he is captive bred i got him from a breeder in the uk. He is nearly 13 months old and i was told he should weigh more than 100g for his age. I feed him every other day and he will normally eat about 2 sometimes 3 locusts or crickets. I had a faecal done and the vets said to me he had a few pin worm eggs but that did not need treatment at the moment as there was only a few but to have another test done in 2 months as they can often carry the eggs but it can start to affect them if their immune system isnt working as it should or they become ill. They didnt actually find any worms just a few eggs. But i wanted to treat him any way to be on the safe side. Started his treatment yesterday. I dont know how he got the eggs, i always spot clean his cage regularly and always remove any poop as soon as i see it. i use a disinfectant once a week and do a through clean once a month. I regularly clean the feeder containers and make sure i change the fruit and veggies and bug gub every couple of days to make sure it doesnt go off. i even remove any crickets or locust etc if he hasnt eaten all of them in the day.

He sure looks good in the picture. I think you giving him reptaid at this point is a wise choice. His weight is a bit low but just let him work it up slowly. I would make sure to get another fecal done in a while, feed him a bit more if he wants it and otherwise relax and enjoy him. Just don't forget and put him in the washer with the laundry.:D:D:D:D:D

ahh thanks both of you for your nice comments and advice. yea i dont want him growing too fast i think he will just do it at his own pace. he has just shed again so i guess that is a good sign he has got bigger he seems to have grown in inches more than grams as he is know 14 inches total length. he last shed was in may so hopefully thats normal around every 4 months as he gets older. yea ill make sure we dont wash him ha ha :) and just keep offering him food when he wants it

thanks again lizzie

That's what I need, for my chameleons to pull their weight around here and do a little laundry :D

Very handsome guy!
