Jdog's Extracurricular Activities,...

That's always something that's seemed funny to me......what's the point in making keeping anything illegal when you're allowed to have guns? :) The petshop owner down the road from me has various rattlers and a few vipers on display......(not for sale though -you still need a license in Britain). Also thought that was your beard.........

Yeah, guns are quite a common aspect of life here in the Souhtern U.S. We have had a reptile show here in Birmingham Alabama every month since 1996. A guy there sold a 13 year old boy a Copperhead after the show at his place ( we weren't allowed to sell venomous snakes at the show, but you could advertise with business cards and meet afterwards). Long story made short; Boy gets bitten, mom freaks out, mom calls cops, cops raid vendors house. It tookseveral days to track down the guy, and he had heard about the kid being bitten and fled to California. The cops found a metal building on his property with tons of snakes and empty aquariums. Some still had labels on them, and one read Bitis gabonica, or more lovingly known as the Gaboon viper. They had no idea if this snake was an escapee or a previous specimen. September 2000, no venomous snakes to possessed in Alabama. But, you can still buy SK's, AK's and an assortment of other high powered assault weapons that can quickly take out your entire block in quick, short order!!!!!:D:D:D

Yeah, something tells me that if we lived close to one another, we'd be getting into the thick of it on a regular basis!!!

Definitely!!! I may be A LOT closer in a couple months. Hopefully my friend gets his teaching job near New Smyrna Beach. If so Ill be going down after Thanksgiving. He should know if he has the job after Friday.

ATVs are now carving paths in and around the creek we've always hunted on and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find reptiles in the numbers I did when I was a kid.

I no longer keep snakes, and it became illegal to possess venomous reptiles in Alabama in 2000.

Typical story these days. The law won't let us keep this or that on our own property but then they fail to protect it in nature!

Nice freaking grab by the way.

Thanks. I think they should only apply it to exotics, but that's just me.

Yeah, the pet shop I mentioned has a Gaboon Viper..........looks pretty mean....I just wonder why you guys freak out less over people getting shot than getting bitten :D
