hey so today i went to lowes to pick up my first live plant for my baby veiled, it is a japanese birds nest fern that i got for about 6$, hes only 3 months old and i dont think hes interested in eating it, i tried a hibiscus but it was too big and there was no room for him to move around so i got this smaller one for him. Does anyone have any good experience with these plants?

Welcome to the forums!

Sounds like you got an awesome cham :)

As for the plant you got, it looks to be on the Safe Plant List: http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp

If you know the scientific name for it, it would help. I just seen it under the B's as a Birds Nest Fern. So double check.

Allot of us use Ficus Benjamins, Schefflera Arboricola, or Golden hanging Pothos plants.

I'm not too familiar with the plant you got. Just be sure to replant it in organic soil so theres no fertilizers or anything. Also it's best to cover the soil with medium sized river rocks incase a feeder insects jumps inside, then your cham eats something from the soil and chokes. You also need to clean off the leaves with regular blue dawn dish soap mixed with water. Just spray the leaves to clean off any toxic chemicals, then spray with water to wash it off. *EDIT- You need to do this because veileds are extremely notorious for eating plants lol :D

If you want to be successful at keeping plants alive i'd suggest using the 3 plants I recommend. Ficus Benjamin is a trooper, Umbrella Plant holds water really well, and pothos grow like crazy. Since your enclosure is indoors you can add a 6500K grow light which will be extremeley benificial to keep your plants alive. You also don't want your plants soil/roots to be soaking wet. You can get root rot and kill your plant, and you're enclosure will stink :)

Ok so just regular dishwater soap will do? And how can you tell the difference if the soil is not organic? I got it from lowes already planted and everything.
