hello i have 2 jacksons. 1 male and 1 female. they are both housed in the same cage together. my cage is 36in high, 24in wide, and 18in deep. 2 days ago i watched my male eat a cricket but ive yet to see my female eat. also neither of them have eaten since the male ate because i put 5 crickets and mealworms in there and they are all still there. my male will go up to the crickets and eye ball them but thats all. the same goes with the female. and by the way they are not aggressive towards each other. they generally stay away from one another and dont really seem to stress unless i try to handle them.

seperate them now!!! They are supposed to be in serparate cages unless they are mating and put a visual barrier between the 2 cages. This is causing them stress!!!!

they are not stressing over each other though. like i said they mostly stay away from each other but sometimes i find them sitting right next to each other under the basking light. and they were also kept together in the pet store.

:D Hello and welcome to the forums. How old are they and how big and what type of enclosure do you have them in?

i believe that they are about 5 to 6 months old. and from head to tail they are about 6 to 7 inches. i have an all screen enclosure that i made myself. and like i said in the first post it is 36in tall, 24in wide and 18in deep. and thanks for the welcome!

I would separate them if I were you. Although you say that they don't stress each other out, that could very well be the case. How long have you had them?

I would seperate them also. They might appear ok and the next thing you know one is falling ill. It is just best to not house chams together.

ive had them for about 2 weeks now. and the female actually just ate a mealworm earlier. and i just built her a cage today i just have to wait till wednesday (payday) to get all of the decorations ad lights for her. do u think it will be fine for them to be together for 2 more days? they were housed together at the pet store in a smaller enclosure than mine for at least 2 months.

yes a couple of days is not going to matter I don't think. There was another member on here housing two Jackson's together and they were getting along fine until one decided to bite the other one!! I am glad you are going to seperate them.

Seperate ASAP and get lots lots of foliage Jackson's love greenery and a lot of places to hide as well and I would suggest 36" 24" 24" for the male and u can use the smaller one for the female. Put a visual berrier between the two of them and I'm sure u will see th start to act a little more normal.

yeah they do get along just fine case sometimes i find the sitting under the basing bulb next to each other but they do always keep a little distance btwn them. he is more of a character than she is and he is always moving around the cage while she moves around but sits in seperate spots for a time before moving. but yeah wednesday they definitley will be housed seperatley and hopefully in about 6 months or so i can breed them!

Im glad your going to separate. :) If she is not eating along with him, more than likely that is one of her signs of sub missing. Unless she has a factor we dont know yet in play.

If you can, fill this out so we can make sure the rest of your care is helping there appetite be what it needs to be.

ohhh no no no. she has eaten. i just didnt see her eat for 2 days until today when i gave her a mealworm. i put it on a branch in front of her and she went after before my hand left the cage lol. but yeah im seperating them on wednesday when i have the money to finish her new cage

Right, all good then, 2 days is not a problem at all :)
Maybe do a thread with pictures, might get even more replies on that one :)
