Hello!
My little female jackson's chameleon was totally fine yesterday, and all of a sudden today she put herself in a corner and hasn't moved all day. She's been keeping one eye closed when I walk in or she's just been sleeping. I've been really worried because I've only had her a couple weeks.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Jackson's chameleon, female, around 1 1/2 y.-2 y.o., in my care for two weeks.
Handling - Not more than 3-4 times a week.
Feeding - She has a lot of gut-loaded crickets in her cage, and then I have been mixing things up between butternut squash, endives, and then yesterday I added a little bit of banana. She's eaten some mealworms too. But she hasn't eaten today. I refill her dish with fresh veggies every morning.
Supplements - Crickets dusted with rep-cal when added.
Watering - I have a continuous dripper, a fountain, and I mist the cage at least twice a day. I try to spray her a bit too, but she doesn't enjoy it. I saw her drinking yesterday around the dripper for awhile. She ate a lot of her veggies yesterday too, but not the banana.
Fecal Description - I think they're white. I've only seen her eat one cricket myself, I've been wondering if she's picking off any that are in there.
History - She's normally very active and wanders around the cage a lot. In the middle of the day she started to slump over a branch with her eyes closed.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - All screen cage, 18x12x20in.
Lighting - One tube UVB lamp, reptiglow, and a ceramic bulb lamp with a 100w zoo-med daylight blue bulb that hangs a few inches from the top of the cage.
Temperature - It's been hard to measure accurately, but I think it's roughly 90 in the hottest part and down to 70 in the unlighted areas.
Humidity - I don't have a measuring device for humidity.
Plants - No live plants.
Placement - Currently she's in the laundry room. No fans. She's probably four feet off the ground.
Location - mid gulf coast, Florida.
Current Problem - Starting this morning my cham became very sluggish. She has been sleeping all day, and when she's awake she keeps just one eye open. It looks like the eye that closes is the one facing the lamp. She hasn't moved a lot at all, she hasn't eaten today or drank today. Yesterday she was just fine and drank and ate a lot. I'm worried I got her sick somehow. I haven't had her more than a couple weeks.
