Jacksons and Locusts

Today I brought Monty some locusts to try again. He had never shown much interest before and had only eaten one the last time I tried him. Today, he eyes it suspiciously before eating it. Great I thought, so I offered him another. This time he decided that it was something he should be scared/defensive of! I placed one on his vine so it walked towards him and he sat there and gaped at it until I removed it! Why would he do that?

I fed mine locust last summer/fall.
She didnt like them at first at all, acting similar to what you describe with Monty:rolleyes:

She finally tried one after a few weeks of offering them, but its grip was so strong she couldnt get it, and almost pulled herself off her perch!
MAJOR setback lol.
She didnt try them again for a few weeks.
I started cutting them at the knee, so they didnt have the super gripper feet to hold on with and couldnt hop.
I tricked her into thinging it was a cricket by hand feeding her a few crickets, then rotating in the hopper.
I fed them greens and oranges.
These became her favorite!!!

So keep trying!
