Jackson had babies, few questions.

So I came home yesterday to five babies. I immediately removed them from the mothers cage and went and bought a small tank. I set them up with some sticks and fake vines and a small uvb light. They all ate both yesterday afternoon and this morning. So I'm hoping they'll do well.

My real question is I found two brownish sacs on a plant leaf. I know they give live birth and just wondering if these are maybe unfertilized sacs or something. I left them in there yesterday, kept them moist and just removed them a few minutes ago.

Also wondering if she might have a few more today or anytime soon?

Anyone have any ideas?

Hey I'm not experienced with breeding them at all, but I know a bit about reptile live births, and I do know that they can give birth to slugs (unvertlised eggs) that the chameleon passes through when giving birth or they could be the thin sacs the baby chameleon came out it

They are probably just slugs that did not fully develop for one reason or another.
That said however I've had some that if kept moist and left alone have actually produced live baby's 1-2 days later. In most cases if they haven't come out by the next day they are not going to produce anything though. Congrats on your baby's they are a blast to keep

Are they like a flat sack or do they look like they have something in them?

I read and was told that a little prodding might provoke them to come out. But these things were fairly solid. Didn't feel or look like anything was in them.

Yeah they're cool to have around. I just didn't plan on having any more chams. But I already have 2 people who want one. My cousin who's had a veiled before. And my brother who haswatched mine before . And my local shop they would buy also.

But from what I hear they are pretty difficult as newborns. Hopefully they all do well. They seem to be ok now. All are a little dark. But I'm doing what i can.

What do you have for food?Fruit flys, pinheads crickets, super small silkworms, and newly hatched mantis - one of the small types, are all good food items. Mantis are not a real meal.

You will need to mist them often, but make sure there is no standing water. It is bad for the babies, and their food will die in it.

Right now I started with flightless fruit flies.

I have them in a small glass, screen top terrarium. I heard that that's ok while they are young. Again, this was a surprise so I kind of rushed just to get them in something. I also needed something that the food wouldn't be able to get out of. Which brings a problem regarding the water. There tends to be a little standing water because of the glass enclosure.

Obviously I know screen is best, all my others are in screens. I just don't plan on keeping them for all that long.

Which reminds me of another question. How soon can they be given to others with decent chameleons knowledge?

Put paper towels in the bottom when spraying and take the wet towels out when you feed the babies.

Are the friends local? Do the know enough to have kept a cham or 2? A young jackson is going to need the correct care or it will die in a heartbeat. A petshop is almost for sure going to kill babies. To much time and work.

Where are you? Might be someone on here to help or take them.

Well the friends are my cousin and brother. Cousin had a veiled a few years ago. And my brother used to take care of my veiled when I was living away for a while.

As far as the pet shop, its not a petco or anything. Its a reptile only shop who specialize in chameleons and do their own in house breeding. I've never seen such a nice shop with informative staff. Im actually lucky I live near them. Theyre great, gut load all their feeders etc. They really have the best setups for chams ive seen in any store.

Sounds like you are good to go. All three could get in contact with you if the had problems. I would wait until they are at least a month to rehome them. Most people wait until 4 months but that is without knowing where they are going.
