Just want to reiterate that point. Without proper UVB lighting, chameleons will develop Metabolic Bone Disease which is very painful, irreversible, and fatal if left untreated.

JRchameleons is right. The UVB lighting is essential. Its not an option and cant wait. How cold does it get there? Taking the chameleon outside a few hours a day will get it the UVB it needs. I wouldnt give much outside time if its under 60F though. The UVB allows them to get calcium out of the blood and into the bones, and without it their bodies will absorb and use the bones calcium for use in the rest of the body. This creates MBD. This is somthing you really do not want to happen.

yes i really dont want her to get MBD, the temp at the moment is around 20' and its been high lately but last week is was around -15' though in the summer it gets around 80'-90' so yes i was planing on leting her go out in the sun for a bit

semi-experienced xanth owner here...she looks at least a yr old, maybe a little older(depending on care). won't say much cuz you already got some great advice here on this thread, other than xanth's our my favorite and never hesitate to ask anything. no such thing as a dumb question here! welcome to the forums

thank you for your thoughts and your help. i dint know how old she was just how old they thought she was (petco) they are not very knowlegeable about their reps. this is the best place to get advice from others who know more then i do and i will be asking many more questions as time goes on XD
