It happened again: this time, a flapneck

All i get in my yard is Cats and neighbor kids....
You know, each country has its own set of positives and negatives. If you trade one country for another, you simple trade one set of issues for another. I may have the chameleons and monitors and landscapes that would make any artist weep, but also right now the country is facing Hurricane Irina, which has battered Madagascar and is now headed this way. It is predicted to be the worst since Domoina in 1984, particularly since there is a high pressure cell over the interior of southern africa and this means the hurricane can't move anywhere and will have to dump its load in a relatively narrow strip. The winds are blowing, it is chilly, and I fear for the safety of the hundreds of thousands of people in the country who have inadequate shelter.
And here is the third Bradypodion transvaalense I found. I called him "AB" on account of a white 'armband', which I think was old skin that was left over from a shed. I have seen him once since the initial sighting.
I took him into captivity for several hours so I cound observe and photograph him. He was a real cool customer, was catching fruit flies and regular flies while sitting on my finger, and drinking water from a dropper, as well as licking a wet leaf I provided for him. He didn't enjoy the warm misting I gave him so much though.
I put him on a pot plant on a table while I was doing some paperwork, and next thing he had disappeared. Knowing he couldn't have gone far.. being brady podion and all... I looked under the table and there he was, hanging upside down from two feet and one tail, munching on a jumping spider he had caught.
I wouldn't have offered him a spider as a meal. But he seemed to know what was good for him. Interestingly, none of the chameleons I have seen appeared to have even the slightest trace of MBD.

Completely agreed, While i was just having fun with that comment, and while i do love the monitors and wildlife you have, I am very fortunate to live where i do and i try not to take that for granted, One of my favorite quotes is " Your whole world can change in the blink of an eye".Life is good for me, so i send my best wishes to those who live in that peril!
