I have been told that if i touch the bulb of a uv with my hand because of the chemicals in it, it will stop producing uv..is this true?

Not true. I've touched my bulbs many times and check the UV readings with my meter quite often and they are fine.

how on earth is supposed to handle it without touching it? lol this rediculous. do people actually believe this and wear gloves like its some type of nuclear power stick? okok i know im going over the top with it, but if it was true, which it isnt, then the folks better get back to the drawing boards.

LOL yeah, i thought if that were to be true then most of us here if not all would have non working uv bulbs..i went to the pet store and wanted to buy a bulb and got it out if the box to take a look at it and the look on the woman's face was unbelievable lol she grabbed it out of my hand so quick..but though i would ask here as i thought she worked in a pet shop and is suppose to know things and got me worried so wanted to double check really :) i have been touching the base of the light bulb since..

lol how old was this person? im getting a vibe it was some old lady who considered this light bulb something sacred. haha im probly a very very long shot away on that though.,
