is this normal?

hello. i have a young chameleon about 3-4 months old and hes been acting kinda strange. Hes been eating normally and ive been misting him alot but he doesnt seem to be very active. He just sits under the light for 2-4hours befor i take him out becuase im worried that he might be sick.but when i take him out he normaly
walks up my arm. is this normal for him to just sit under his lights? his eyes are open all the time when he does this and he sleeps fine. thanks

If you fill out the how to ask for help form located in the health clinic we will be better able to assist you:) I'm sorry your having trouble with your little one:(

Are you sure?
How do you measure that?

Is he sitting still first thing in the mornings?
Are you turning his lights off at night?

What uvb bulb are you using?

a have specific thermameter in his terarium and no he sleeps on his plants and yes i do turn his lights off when he sleeps and he moves in the morning because thats when i give him his food

Ok so hes sitting for a little while, but then you move him>
have you let him just be and see how long he really sits for?

If you arent using a digital thermometer, i would suggest getting one and testing your basking temp.
If its truly 86, then its a good temp, but sometimes if htey sit still for long periods of time, their basking temp is too low.

My little guy used to do that too. He would stay in the same spot for hours. Now, after about a month of having him, he ventures around a lot more. I dont know how long you have had yours, but mine acted very similar, and he was about the same age. How do you feed him? I free range the feeders into his cage and let him hunt them down. I think it helped to motivate his movement. I also changed the time of day that I was feeding him, from morning to early afternoon.

Hello,
If you could please post some pictures of your enclosure/setup, that would be great. I agree with camimom. Usually if the basking spot is low, they just stand there. My chameleon when he wakes up likes to bask for about an hour and a half. After that I feed him about 10-12 crickets and then I give him a good 4-5 minute misting and then I go to work. My chameleon is active sometimes and other times he just sits in the same spot. Something else I have realized is that if the humidity is too low in the cage, then they won't feel too good. Well at least with my chameleon. Some mornings I wake up to my cage being in the 30's with humidity and my chameleon doesn't want to do anything. The temperature is in the 70's which is normal. So I just give him a good mist to bring it up and after that he begins to become more active.

hey Seb, i found that if you put a large piece of construction paper on one wall of your screen enclosure it can greatly increase the amount of humidity that stays inside if you mist before bed. I went to the dollar store and got a bunch so i could change them out every week or so..
