I don't know if there is a way to be sure, but here is what I would check.

Know the area in which your catching these bugs, find out which areas are sprayed with pesticides.

Know your bugs. Different insects will have different "travel" habbits, compare that with where you caught the bugs and where danger zones are.

Always play it safe. If you have concerns, don't feed them.

there really is no for sure way, just spend a buck and go to your local pet store and get some crix.
