Is she sick?

I just picked up my new chameleon from a local pet shop. When I went to open the box she/he was very playful and she climbed all over my shirt. When I put her in her cage she climbed right up the side and onto the top. When she was walking on the side she was kinda shaky. When she went over the light she stop at the uvb light and sat there. When she went over the basking light she flipped out and would've fallen if I didn't catch her. I put her in her perch and now she is just sitting there. I know shaking can be caused be MBD so I want to be extra cautious. Also, if anyone could age or sex him/her (pretty sure she's a girl but don't know for sure). I you can't go with the pictures I could post some more when she is calmed down more.

More information needed. What kind of chameleon is it? Did you attach any pictures to you post?

It is unlikely it's mbd, but it's a possibility, could you please send me some pictures of its legs, and a picture of it. what kind of cham? Most chameleons "shake" when they walk if you mean rocking back and forth. Pictures are needed to make an assessment. Thanks!

Yea sorry I was in a rush to post. I'm already obsessed with them! It is a veiled chameleon btw. PICS:http://imgur.com/a/eROrf

SHE looks normal to me, she has no physical evidence of mbd that I can see. :) As for the freaking out under the heat lamp, maybe it's too hot, whats the wattage? Or maybe she was just shocked my the heat.

I will have to look for the wattage but it is just a regular house bulb. The temps under her perch are 80f. It might of just been shock because she just got back from a 5 min. drive in the ND temps.

She's adorable!

That's how they walk! They have this quavering shaky walk, especially if they are hunting or afraid.

Did she burn herself? Are your lights inside the cage where she can burn herself on them?

That very pretty spotty color she is showing in one picture isn't a good color--it's a stressed color. Your cage looks a little barren. She needs lots of foliage, preferably live plants, to hide in and feel safe. They tend to spend most of their time at the top of their enclosures, so that's where you need to put the greenery.

Your temps might be a little high. They don't need as much heat as you think, especially a female.

If you take a clear picture of the heels of the back feet, we can tell if she is a male or a female.

The light is on the outside of the cage. She did not burn herself as she was in the screen below the light for only a few seconds. The reason she was stressed is because I took that picture literally 10 seconds after she went in her cage. She actually has lots of foliage but you can't tell as that is in the front near the top where the is little. I am attaching some more pictures. http://imgur.com/a/TaQSp

That's better. I put my plants on shelves or overturned buckets or plant pots to get them higher I try to have plants right up to the top. I'll make sure they can't get too close to the baking light, but there will be foliage all around it so they can hide. You have to make sure they have pathways to get up and down from the bottom--sometimes they can get stuck on the bottom. I just use branches from my oak trees.

Here's a diagram that shows how to sex a veiled:

I was worried that you wouldn't know that spotty color was a stress/fear color and might think it is normal.

She's is very cute!
