Is she gravid?

I am a new owner in to the world of chams. I have a breeding pair of veiled chameleons, and i would like to know if anyone can tell me if you can tell whether my female is gravid or holding a clutch, she seems alot fatter than what she was when i got her 2 weeks ago. All i know is she has not been put with the male in the last 5 months at least and when we have tried she has been ok with him until he grabbed her then she gaped no hissing or changing colour tho just widely opened mouth. And doubling back on herself and looked as if she was trying to bite the male. Hope you can help me. If she looks gravid or holding a clutch what do i have to do?

if its been 5 months since shes had contact with a male then the possible clutch wouldnt be fertile..

I can assure you that she is not having a fertile clutch of eggs since she hasn't been with a male in 5 months............a non-fertile clutch though is a possibility. If she is starting to get big watch for signs of her laying low in the trees and or hovering the ground.......maybe you should set up an egg laying chamber such as cocoa husk mixed with sand thats moist enough it wont cave in on her if she digs a tunnel to lay her eggs. The chamber will need to be at least 6 " deep. If your veileds home doesn't provide sufficient room for a chamber when you see her start hovering you can place her in a large garbage pail with the mixture until she lays. Ensure to provide her with enough spraying of water so she doesnt get dehydrated.

If you have only had chams for 2 weeks I am not sure why you are diving into breeding. They have not had time to acclimate yet. Can you give us the run down...

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage construction (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and type of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Location - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Current Problem - The current problem that you are concerned about.
