Is my female pregnant?

A great way to keep track of a female

I honestly feel my most successful way of keeping tabs on my chameleons was to watch their weight. I weigh my females on a gram scale at least 3 times a week and while they are pregnant normally everyday or every other day. It has eased so much guess work as females can lay then still look chubby if they are grumpy or something, but when you see a 20 gram drop in one day YOU KNOW THEY LAID :). but best of luck it looks like you have a passion for these guys and i'm sure you will do a great job! I have worked with beardies for years and have 53 eggs in the incubator now from my panther female and CAN NOT WAIT to have them hatch! best of luck and enjoy the stress of your female :p

Since you said you bred her 1.5 weeks ago I am assuming the reason that she is fat is because she has blown herself up to look big. Chams do that when stressed. A lady can be gravid from about 3-5 weeks, so be prepared for her to lay. She will usually walk around on the bottom of her cage even if there is a bin, looking for a place to lay, at least min do, then in a day or two settle into the bin and start digging. Sometime they will dig a couple of test holes and sometime they will just dig one hole. Who knows what goes through their minds. Mine always like pretty damp sand. I have one that prefers a round container while the rest of mine will dig in a rectangular bathroom garbage can filled with sand. They can be finicky. Just be prepared .... You will see egg lumps in her sides over her back legs and you will know the time is getting real close.

Good luck.

Great comments! I will hopefully have some eggs soon! If it is in the very near future I will repost the success on here. Can't wait to see what happens!
