How skinny is he supposed to be?Yup, he is. You can see where his casque bulges out a bit on the sides...also his plump little cheeks. Keep at it...it just takes time.![]()
Well the pet at my pet shop even the medium crickets are pretty large do you think I should cut back to 2 every other dayYep exactly... Feeder size matters as well. If your doing 3 large feeders cut back to medium feeders. I have one that I have had on a diet since like May... In July he was 167 grams... Now he is down to 145 although for his total length he is still about 15 grams too heavy. It is a slow process. You do not want them taking weight off too fast but you do not want them making gains either. If you have a gram scale this is the best way to track the weight loss.
Honestly I would not reduce further unless your tracking weight... What I do for mine may not be for yours. I am a firm believer in them responding differently. For example age plays into this. Beman had stopped growing completely. So he is on a schedule of 3 days a week. He gets small sized feeders and 2 each feed during the week and 3 on the weekend feed when I give vitamin or Cal with D3. I have found with weighing him that he is losing about 3-4 grams a week this way. But since it is not obvious to the eye I have to weigh him to know how his body is responding.Well the pet at my pet shop even the medium crickets are pretty large do you think I should cut back to 2 every other day
Also can I give him super worms as a treat once in a while even though he's dieting
Gosh these chameleons are so touchy but hes so cute makes me want to give him treats lolHonestly I would not reduce further unless your tracking weight... What I do for mine may not be for yours. I found giving treats was counter productive to getting Beman to lose weight. Just 1 or 2 treats a week were enough to cause him to either gain a gram or two or have no loss at all.
Well you can but just know your not doing him any favors with them. I know it is hard... But being fat leads to shorter lives. It compromises organ function.Gosh these chameleons are so touchy but hes so cute makes me want to give him treats lol
I'll keep him on his diet and no more super worms for him until he is slim thank you for the advice!Well you can but just know your not doing him any favors with them. I know it is hard... But being fat leads to shorter lives. It compromises organ function.
