is my chameleon pregnant or just fat?

she's been gradually getting bigger the past month or so. I actually don't know the sex of her, but I'm calling her a "her" because that's the most plausible answer. I feed her about 15 crickets a day but hasn't had much of an apatite lately. She was born in October, and I know they lay eggs no matter what, but I thought this might be too early.

They can have eggs as early as 4 months. Do you have an egg laying bin? You need one. Just get a 12" deep bucket of damp play sand, damp enough to make a tunnel but not so damp that it collapses.

she looks FAT to me. you need to cut back on crikets. i feed my girl everyother day one or two large crikets. your feeding way to much. you might want to fill out the how to ask for help and post pics of her in the health section. i never had issues with gout but it looks like she might have some things like that.

does anyone else see what i see?

reasons i say fat-

rounded tail
extra fat under and around neck
very large arms and legs

If you are feeding her 15 crickets a day she could very well be fat and carrying eggs. I would recommend you get a laying bin set up ASAP and cut back on her food and the heat if her basking temp is hotter than 83. I'm attaching a few blogs below and a video to help you out.

I would like to see a pic under her chin where your hand is. It looks like she might have edema(fluid) or it might be the way you are holding her.

Definitely both fat AND gravid If she has gone off her food. You need a 12" deep and wide bucket of 1/2 playsand and 1/2 coconut husk fiber kept moist but not wet. Give her privacy, cover the cage sides if you have to.

she in fact was not fat at all, she was preggers. Got her laying bin set up and it took her no time at all to lay them. She's totally fine and healthy now, lost all the weight, and is at a healthy weight now and acting normal.
