Is my chameleon bored?

I have a 8 month old Male Veiled Chameleon. Lately for the past 1-1.5 months he has been crawling up and down the screen enclosure. I've watched him at different periods throughout the day and he travels the same pattern. He'll start off in the morning basking himself then continue his journey down the screen onto a branch like an ant following the same scent trail. Then once he reaches the bottom he walks across the ground back and forth a few times before heading back up to the top only to repeat the same routine. Sometimes he'll crawl up and down the screen on one side like he's trying to get out or fascinated with something he sees.

Does anyone eles's chameleon have a habit of doing the same thing?
Just wondering why my chameleon does this and if he's just bored?

are you 100% your chameleon is a male? The females will crawl up and down and go the bottom looking for a spot to lay eggs.

Yes, I'm 100% totally sure. He's got a huge tall casque and very big noticeable tarsal spurs. Take a look at my chameleon photos in my album.

lol It was a longshot but I have seen people on here who have had to change their chameleons names cause they thought he was a she or vice versa. Maybe he is cruising cause he is looking for a mate!!! My male sambava goes to the bottom of the cage all the time.

That's ok. I'm definitely not one of the dumb ones that is unaware of the sex of their chameleon. I made sure with the breeder and myself that it was in fact a male I choose. Lol!

I certainly did not mean to insult your intelligence. Sorry if you took it that way!!! I have just seen so many people be sold "males" that were females and not everyone knows about the tarsal spurs.

How big is his cage?Does he get to free range? Some guys need some free range time. There easy to set up. Your chameleon will thank you. in his own way of course:D

No, no you didn't insult my intelligence at all. :)

His enclosure is 3' H X 2' W X 2' D. He doesn't free range very often because when I take him out he turns around and heads straight back into his cage. So I figured he feels comfortable that way.

sounds like hes cramped.

the bigger the cage, the happier they are.

try gettting or building a bigger cage.

I was beginning to wonder and question myself that he might be cramped in the cage. Seems like I'll be dating my drafting table for a bit while I draw up some new cage designs. Thanks!

My male does it everyday! but I added some btanches and he doesnt do it as much. Think he is looking for mate but hes going to have to wait til Feb.

Your guy may want out to explore or a mate. My male spends half the day walking to the bottom of his cage and back up over and over  I try to let him walk around my room but every time he just runs straight to my geckos tank

I have the same problem I have a 2 month old veiled who goes to the bottom of the floor. He crawls around like he's looking for something. Or he will just free roam. I know he's a male because he has little nubs in his back feet there so cute lol. Why do the do that. I have him in a 29 gallon aquarium but he has good ventilation he has a mesh screen. And I have my ceiling fan running. Basking light is a 75w light and I have a UVB fluorescent light 5.0 made by repto glo.
