Is it weird/sad that

I considered Pascal to be my best friend? I mean, I'm not really a people person, and don't have many human friends, but when I've said he's my best friend and we literally did everything together, people laugh at me and say "He was just a lizard" or "we need to find you some human friends"

On a side note, if one more person says he was "just a lizard" I'm gonna have a fit. Anyone on this forum knows that they are not "just lizards" it's so aggravating b/c I watched him grow up literally since he was two weeks old! It's not like he was a ficus or something that you don't get attached to...

I'm having a really hard time with this.. Harder than I've had with some things, I have a chameleon shaped hole :(

They really do hold on to your heart like they would a tree branch, and now I know that it hurts like hell when they let go...

I'm getting a new one on the 26th, and while having a new baby is exciting, it's like only half of what I was when I got Pascal. Maybe it's just eclipsed by being sad, and I'll be more excited when I see him.

I really miss Pascal :(:(:(

You will always miss him and that is ok. You still have room in your heart for another one. I completely understand how you loved Pascal, I am like that. We love them, that is it, we love them.

I totally think Leo is my best friend, but he has says otherwise most of the time:rolleyes::(......ungrateful little boy. Speaking of which i have been depriving him of attention for the past week cuz ive been busy with the start of school:(. And you should definitely get another cham....pascal was amazing and i know you will find one just as amazing as him to fill that hole, but i know that you could never completely replace him.

I understand! I love my animals, and Loki is no different. He's my baby, and I would do anything for him:eek: I think it will get easier when you see your new one, but he'll never replace your pascal, he'll just fill another place in your heart:)

Its true, its like you can't understand until you have one just how awesome they are...

Haha, yeah, they like making us think they don't like us. Ohh I bet he's mad lol. I start school next week, so I won't have a little reptilian face to come home to. He was amazing, he did all these little things that made me crazy, but he was great. He set the bar high for the next cham :) Now it's a question of veiled or panther. I'm glad in a way that I won't replace him, but loss is always easier with another pet.

In all honesty i prefer animals to MOST people, for many reasons. Which is why i surround myself with them. Some people just dont get it! Animals find ways into our hearts so easily, they dont lie, or chest, or steal (well, my friends ferret does) or many of the bad habits lots of people have. And that keeps them very close to us until they have to leave. :) you'll never replace your baby, but dont let that stop you from loving a new one. The new one will be cute and you get to watch the growing process all over again!

I like that name, Loki :) I did everything I could for Pascal, and now the new baby will be even more spoiled than he was. I can't wait to meet my new baby, I just hope it's as magical as Pascal was.

I went to Petsmart (don't worry he was only at the store for an hour) and got him out of his little cage and he climbed right up on my chest and curled up and looked at me with one eye :) I miss that. He never even bit me he was such a good boy. And when we went to the vet (4x in 1 week) he walked right over to the vet and she was like "wow, you have a really tame chameleon, he doesn't even try to bite" and I was like "yeah, he's awesome" and he looked over at me and I swear he was thinking "you know it".

He had so much personality for something that the salespeople said would be boring :) He proved them wrong :)

These are the memories to hold onto. He sounds like a little diamond. My only cham to die was Stuart my female Veiled. She was a character :) When she died I was so sad I didn't buy another lizard for 8 years. Just a lizard. Stupidest thing anyone ever said. I hope your new guy helps with the loss. I know he's got himself a special place reserved anyway.....

Anyone who says 'it was only a dog, or only a lizard, or only a bird' just doesn't understand. I feel bad for them for not having that relationship in their lives. I'm sorry again for your loss of Pascal.

Me too, I love how when you talk to animals you can tell them your deepest darkest feelings and secrets and you dont have to say dont tell anyone. Animals cant stab you in the back either, honestly i am getting excited about this new baby, now that i know some people get it. I do want to watch him grow and be cute. :)

I know! Me too, idk what im gonna do these next two weeks without him to take care of. Probably spoil the dogs. Or go insane. My mom and I were gonna go somewhere, and I said "hold on I have to go check on...." and then I remember. Idk how people do it.

Thanks :) I wish he could have met everyone, he was soooo great

I had me a monitor to keep me company for most of that time, I finally got around to getting a new batch of critters last year.
It is weird and sad, but it's also beautiful. Just like all life. RIP Pascal.

I'm so sorry for your loss:( have you thought about getting a picture of pascal as a tattoo so you'll always have him riding around on you?

Yeah :)

Some are, Savannahs get to 5ft ish for males. 3.5 ft ish for females.
Komodo dragons are monitors and they get to 10ftish.
An extinct monitor called Megalania got to about 23ft :) He wouldn't be able to sleep under my bed

So sorry for Pascal :( They are some of the most fantastic creatures I've ever seen. Nature can be so cruel sometimes... when did you lose him? I remember you posting some threads this morning.

R.I.P. Pascal

Thanks. They definitely are. I lost him on Saturday, it was seriously the most tramatic thing i've seen this year. He held on for 24 hours after the overdose, but when I got home from giving blood Saturday, he was lying on the cage floor, so I opened it, and he stumbled over to lay on my arm. I go thim out and he was just laying on my chest, and only breathing 1x per minute. And he died there, and with all the chemicals in his body leaving he like exorcist twisted and curled and i ran out of the room... :( There is definitely a reason chams usually die when your gone... Its awful to watch
