Is helping people a capitalist venture?

I think it could apply to a lot of situations (at a job site). However other than that there are a lot of acts that I would call acts of kindness (charity or community events). Great tangent or side thought to bring up.

Yes, always.

If you help someone, you will always get something out of it, period.

All actions are selfish.

If you hand a homeless man a fiver, its because at some point in time, it crossed your mind to do so. After that, to not hand him the fiver becomes a possibility in your mind as well. Its obvious that keeping the fiver benefits yourself, and giving it benefits the homeless man, but giving it also benefits you as well, while keeping it only benefits yourself. If you give it,you feel good about helping the man(positive karma), and you don't have guilt afterwards about not giving it to him(negative karma).

So you at least get that out of the situation, some sort of return for the investment.

I do it because I can now, and needed help a long time ago. I beleive what comes around goes around.

Exactly.

The reason "what comes around goes around" is because of karma though.

If one receives help, one feels an appreciation in that moment.

Then, if one sees another in a similar situation, one can empathize with that person, and if they are in a position to help in a similar manner, they feel compelled to do so. If one doesnt help when they could, they then have the empathetic feeling for the person, as well as the knowledge that they did nothing to help. This can, even if its only subconsciously, create a negative image of oneself in ones own mind. That is negative karma.

To provide the help, gives one a positive image of ones self in ones own mind. As you will go along knowing that that person has received the help they needed, and no longer has the experience they were suffering through in their life. This is positive karma.

In this way we are all connected, and compelled to help one another avoid suffering.

We all have something in common, best summed up by:
"Everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering."

When someones happiness involves the suffering of another, this is called "fascism". Which is caused by anger, which stems from fear.

Your comment about the homeless man is interesting. Normally I would and have because if at ever in my life I was at such a low I would show gratitude for a good warm cooked meal. Me knowing that there are people out there that were that kind when I was that low would make me feel good.

I actually have got some stock invested in Karma. However what would you say to this situation. There are two men both kind, generous, capable, and strong of mind. Or as you would say have got a lot of positive Karma. Both aspire to attain great wealth however only one does why is that? It seems that this is a situation that happens all the time.

Karma is not a magic force that decides how lucky one is.

The idea of karma has to do with how one sees oneself, and how that self image effects the quality of ones own life.

Yes, but that feeling is there because of the negativity of the situation.
The feeling of alleviating such a suffering is were the positive feeling comes in. In this respect you gain a more positive outlook of your own self, thereby improving your own life.

Savy?

Would if I don't believe in Karma? :)

There was once a man who believed in giving just for the sake of giving, and too expect something in return as wrong.

LOL however success in big business is not based on luck. It is based on opportunity, skill, and expertise. I'm not attempting to start a problem however in the past wars have been started when groups or people attempt to acquire these conditions (from religious groups to governments of countries which has been well documented through out written history and is popular basis for stories for books and movies). That's one of the neat parts about the USA is most of these conditions are available to many kinds of people as for Karma's sake elsewhere in the world you won't see that kind of arrangement. It is mostly dominated by one group or another. Which is one thing that I think makes the USA a great nation.

Thats fine, you dont have to "believe" in gravity, or evolution either...

As I said, its not a magical force that determines how things turn out in your life.

Its a word that describes the relationship in between your actions, how you view yourself, and how the view you have of yourself effects your quality of life.

It doesnt have anything to do with expecting something in return. What Im saying is, is that even if you dont expect something in return, youre still going to receive it. By acknowledging this, you are merely broadening your horizons, and scope of view on life, and the relationships you create with others.

It does not make a man less righteous to acknowledge these things, merely educated.

Didnt say that it was...just saying...

Im all for equality, and I will definitely agree that the level of such that we have here, is one of our strong points. Could still be better, but thats just my opinion.

Ill go ahead and just mention that it is common for people to have a misunderstanding about what karma actually is. Most people are familiar with the phrase, "Karmas a .....", and ,"what comes around goes around". These are not accurate representations of the meaning of the word "karma" though.

I feel Ive explained it the best I can though.

If you do wrong, you know it, even if no one else does.
You can tell yourself it doesnt effect you, but it does, on some level, one way or another.

Negative actions result in a decrease of the enjoyability of ones life, even if its just a little. Positive actions result in an increase in the enjoyability of ones life, even if its just a little.

So my argument is that no matter what, helping another will at least make you feel better about yourself, so you do in fact get something out of it.

In my understanding and interpretation of the question posed, that would result in an answer of, yes.
