is baytril good for respitory infections

does anyone know if baytril is ok to use on a male nosy be about a year old?

was it given to you by your vet? I am wondering why you are asking. If you just got some from someone then you need to know the correct dosage to give. Your chameleon has to be weighed and the correct dosage can be calcuated from that.

I agree with Carol and would like to add that Baytril will not work on all RI's. Your vet will need to do a culture and sensitivity test to see which antibiotic will work on the type of infection your cham has.

I wouldn't go giving him antibiotics without seeing a vet. Baytril can be really harsh on chameleons and I've heard a lot of stories about bad reactions and it being too strong to handle and utimately resulting in death. Please be careful and go see the vet on Tuesday like you said in your previous post :)

If you do get antibiotics, Please be sure to search this forum for tips on how to administer them. You may also want to consider adding a humidifier to help loosen the mucus and I did read somewhere about raising the temps a but because chameleons don't get a fever to help combat the infection.

If you use the search option correctly all the info is here for the taking. But please please please don't self medicate with such strong drugs :(
