introduction and ask a ?
Just wanted to introduce myself and I've been reading alot before I got him and I still am reading alot about them, but wanted to see if my setup was good since i'm new to chams.
got him thursday through lllreptile.com as their package deal that came with all the supplies and baby veild.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veild, male, not sure the age, but he's tiny about 3-4" long from head to tip of tail. only had him acouple of days got him thursday.
Handling - don't really try to handle him only when I put him in the cage.
Feeding - crickets and I tried superworms, but haven't had any luck with them yet(he might be to small for them?), I put about 8-10 in with him alittle after he has woken up. gut-load them with carrots and cricket feeder.
Supplements - I have zoo-med reptical with D3 and without D3 and I have repcal herptivite.
Watering - I use a hand spray bottle along with a drip system(the little dripper).
Fecal Description - only seen acouple and seems to be fine some white and brown.
History - nothing right now only had him for a few days he has just been climbing around all the vines and even the roof and sides of the cage and noticed he has found spot that he always goes to when it's time for him to go to sleep.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - all screen cage about 30"H x 27"W x 18"D(got it from lllreptile.com)
Lighting - exo terra, repti glo 5.0 and sun glo, the repti glo 5.0 is an 18" uva and uvb tube light and the sun glo is the bulb for basking. I usually turn them on around 8am and turn them off around 9pm or when he goes to his spot and as soon as I turn the lights out he starts to close his eyes.
Temperature - temps don't usually get over 85 during the day and the lowest it gets at night is around 70 I use the thermometer that came with the kit.
Humidity - this one is hard cause my room is not humid at all, but its usually around 60 I have a live plant in the cage to try and keep it up.
Plants - I have one live plant it's a hibiscus.
Placement - its against my wall on a stand I made the top of the cage is about more than halfway up the wall.
Location - located in PA(turning to winter)
Current Problem - no current problems really he seems fine and just getting used to his cage since he is always climbing all over everything even the roof of it lol. the only thing is I know some people say they use a feeding cup for their chams, but how exactly do you have it? like position/height off the floor? it just seems like my little guy has a hard time finding the crickets cause they walk around the cage and I always seem to have alot of crickets at the end of the night when i take them out also I noticed that when he does find a cricket and get it he stays green, but then he gets darker green stripes and once he is done he goes back to the light green he was. Is that normal and means he is happy?.
my little guy after I put him in the cage.
