So im a little late on this introduction for my newest chameleon but here it goes!! On 12 April 2012 my young male Nosy Be arrived!!! He was and still is very shy, especially when the camera is involved!

Here is a pic just after his arrival when i fianlly got him out of his cup.

After settling in for a while I added a branch into his cage so he could enjoy the free range that I built for my female Nosy Be. As soon as i attached the branch into his cage he bolted up onto the free range and was surprised to find Kami (my female nosy be) already spying on him!!

From that point on after i would let either of my Chameleons out to free range they would make a B-line straight to the others cage to spy!! Here is Leon spying on Kami, he turned on some colors i had never seen before!!

Leon just had his first shed before these next pics were taken so he was doing a little showing off.

After his second shed, catching some rays! (Leons favorite reason to come out of his cage)

While cleaning Kamis cage i let her wander her free range, in the 10 minutes that i was cleaning Kamis cage she made her way across the free range to visit Leon... I removed her as soon as i noticed this!!!!

This is in Leons cage by the way ><

Kami has been very restless since Leon came home!! I figured she must be receptive and thought that Leon was a handsome boy!! This is Kami doing her free ranging and also her very sad stance she makes every time i put her back!

"NOOOO TAKE ME WITH YOU!!"

A couple weeks later I was cleaning the Chameleon cages again. After finishing Kamis cage I began on Leons. When I clean the chameleon cages i tend to let them out to free range and put them back into there cages when finished. After putting Kami back i must not have closed her cage door all the way.... She snuck out of her cage, climbed the curtain thats beside her cage up to the Pothos that is part of the free range and over down to Leons cage.... when i had finished cleaning Leons cage i looked up to find Leon and return him to his cage but instead found this....

This was a completely unintentional breeding! Life however finds a way!!

Last night 18 July 2012(My BDAY!!), Kami layed her first clutch of eggs!! A wonderful birthday present if you ask me!

Right after finishing i heard scratching at the door of her cage and let her out to be on her free range before bed! She did what any mother would do!! she went and let Leon have it for missing the entire laying of his babies!!

Anyways!!! Thanks for looking and any comments!! I want to specifically thank Jannb for her egg laying blogg that was extremely helpful as well as Dez and Chamalot Chameleons for their educational videos on female chameleons receptivity and egg laying!

Congratulation on te eggs! But to be honest I dont buy the 'it wasnt intended' thing. If you let them free range together, you were just asking for it. I hope you learned your lesson and wont allow it happen again, unless you want them to breed.
For a female, letting her just see a male, might be a trigger to egg production.

Thanks!! :D

these chameleons find a way to be sooooo entertaining sometimes!!!

Yes they can be. They're like little mood rings. Sheldon was free ranging the other day and I found him at the base of his tree about to get onto the floor and go god knows where in my house. I picked him up and put him back towards the top of his tree where he promptly displayed cranky colors at me. Clearly I messed up his plans. :)

Thanks for the comments!!!

It truly was not intended

Not to long ago before i got my male i let my female free range a majority of the time and her cage was never closed. Oh and i dont free range them together, the pics where they are both together are the only times they have been allowed to be together. she had never ninja'd out of the cage before like that either... Not to mention my male only showed aggresion at her prior to them mating... I do need to stop leaving their cages open, so youre right about me needing to be more careful... and that me not being careful led to them being able to mate! But im still proud now that its all over and done!

I am rearranging the cages so the free range is not so near to the cages and they wont have access to the others cage... Oh and they do have dividers so they cant see eachother... its only possible when one is on the free range... but ill be fixing that!!!!

Love the story and the pictures Trevor. Your chams are both beautiful. A big congrats on the eggs and a late Happy Birthday. I free range all my guys all over my house and my male Luie use to go looking in every room for the girls when he was younger. So be careful or you'll have more eggs and way too soon.
