Introduction and a quick question

My name is Kitty. I have owned crested geckos for several years and just recently I rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed a bearded dragon.

I have admired panther chameleons from afar for a long time and I am now saving up to get one.

My ultimate question is, the bearded dragon's poo could clear a room. While its silly, does Chameleon's poo smell?

Welcome!
not silly at all!

unles your cham has parasites, the poo doesnt smell. though ti woudlnt go sticking my nose in it! ;)

Welcome!
This is the right place to ask questions, so ask any you may have.
It smells, like all poo.
I rarely notice the smell though, as its very minor in a healthy animal.
I also wipe the cage bottom daily, and remove any feces that may be in the cage.

I would in no way whatsoever call chameleons "smelly":p
The crickets are whats smelly!

Is there an 'ideal' chameleon to start with? Ideally I want a Panther chameleon but if they are dramatically more difficult to handle I wouldn't mind switching.

panthers and veileds are great 'starter' chams. they are more forgiving of 'mistakes' than other species.

waht questions do you have about cham care?

I have 2 beardies and 1 Cham- none of their poo's smell. Lily's the chams had an odor when she had Coccidia. Now that is cleared up no smell.

What are you feeding the beardies to make the poo smell? have you had them tested for parasites?

He was tested and they said he just has stinky poo. I am used to my crested gecko who you can NEVER smell to to go into having a bearded who STANK it was shocking.

I have actually done a fair amount of research so far and I certainly post more when more questions arise. I am very excited to get my panther but I have a lot of time until I get around to getting it (still in college so I'm a bit broke).

Is there a good reputable breeder to buy from online? I am in Oklahoma so I don't really have a good breeder in the area.

Any of the site sponsers:)
They are 100% reputable.
We also have a classifieds section with great breaders who post their babies there.

Man, to really "live" the chameleon keeper life, and really get to know your animal, the only way is to really get in there, break that poo up, and get a good hearty whiff.

Nothing like the smell of fresh cham-poo in the morning.;)
